MC Residential Recognized As One of the Top Companies for Women

MC Residential has been nationally ranked as the 13th best company for women to work for in the multifamily industry. Awarded by Multifamily Leadership, MC is greatly honored to be recognized along with the other incredible companies that made the 2020 list.

It came as no surprise to MC’s employees that they were awarded such a prestigious ranking in this powerful award. The organization is dominated by driven female employees and executives at nearly every level of the company with their President and Partner, Lesley Brice, at the helm.  “We value the contributions of all of our employees and we believe putting people first naturally provides opportunities to both men and women in our culture.” MC Companies’ CFO, Vice Presidents of Operations and Marketing, and almost every member of their senior management team are women.

You may be asking what makes MC Residential one of the top multi-family companies for women to work for in the entire country. In order to be considered for this award, over 40% of each companies’ employees must complete and submit an anonymous survey that asks a wide range of questions regarding their relationship and overall satisfaction with their employer.

The responses from these surveys made it clear that simply employing women is not what won this award for MC Companies, but their company culture.  At their core, MC has an entrepreneurial heartbeat and pushes employees to constantly develop themselves not just professionally but also personally. Each year the company holds their Employee Summit in Scottsdale, Arizona and spends two full days together working solely on personal development. Employee training is also conducted year-round to new and old employees alike to give them the tools they need to continue to grow professionally.

MC Companies is also notorious for their fierce dedication to giving back at the local and national level.  Their employee driven Sharing the Good Life Foundation facilitates the Employee Grant Program that allows every single employee to apply for grants up to $500 for any charitable organization they are passionate about. MC understands that time is the most valuable resource you can ever give to someone, which is why they allocate every employee 16 hours of paid volunteer time-off to volunteer at the charity of their choice. 8 Things Tenants Look for in a Rental Property

We talk a lot about what landlords should look for when buying a rental property, but what does a tenant look for? We have put together a list of Eight things MC Companies focuses on to attract tenants to our properties. 
 

1. Location

Location is the #1 priority for tenants. Most tenants are willing to drop other items on their wish list for the right location. Tenants look for rental properties that are close to work, school, shopping, or entertainment. Many investors miss the mark when it comes to location. They often try and purchase in a less expensive area, and that can result in high vacancies and lower rents.

2. Safety

Tenants want to feel safe in their home and in their community. They look for security gates, cameras on premise, low crime rates in the area, and an attentive staff.  Anything additional you can do to make them feel safe is a big win. 

3. Parking

You have to have reserved parking and also enough parking for two cars. If tenants can’t park conveniently, they won’t want to live there. Adequate parking should be one of the first things you take into account before buying a rental as well.

4. Open Floor Plan

Open floor plans are a trend that I think is here to stay. Long gone are the days of a cramped separate dining room. Open floor plans are a great way to maximize the available space.

5. Clean and Tidy

A clean and well-lit rental will win every time. Hire a professional cleaning company when you turn a unit and make sure it has the just been cleaned scent. Lastly, avoid air fresheners. That will only make people question, what are you hiding? 

6. Storage

Most landlords don’t think of storage within the unit when buying a rental. Tenants look for space for their stuff, including outdoor equipment like bikes and skis. That is why walk-in closets or garages are a big draw. 

7. Pet-Friendly
