MC Companies was launched in 2001, but part of our story began earlier. Ross McCallister and Ken McElroy formed what is now a recognized leader in multifamily investment, development, construction and management. Still, we wouldn’t be who we are today without one of our predecessors: The McCallister Company.
In 1983, co-founder Ross McCallister moved to Tucson, Arizona, to serve as president of a local real estate development and syndication firm. During his tenure, he developed, constructed and financed more than 1,500 units across Southern Arizona. On May 15, 1985, Ross and Patty McCallister founded The McCallister Company.
The multifamily construction and asset management firm handled development, construction, financing, equity procurement, investor relations and asset management. In the 16 years of McCo, Ross and Patty constructed more than 1,600 multifamily units and managed commercial and multifamily assets throughout Southern Arizona. In 2001, they merged The McCallister Company with McElroy Management—co-founder Ken McElroy’s firm—and formed MC Companies.
Ross and Patty continue to apply their expertise in their leadership roles within MC Companies. Throughout the years, they have served on several real estate committees and boards, but their proudest is the Sharing the Good Life Foundation.
Sharing the Good Life is a charitable foundation within MC Companies designed to build strong and vibrant communities, improve quality of life and make a positive difference through donations and volunteer efforts that support a variety of local and national charities.
Since 2001, the company has executed approximately $3.8 billion in multifamily assets. With corporate offices in Scottsdale and Tucson, Ariz., MC Companies owns and operates 7,000 residential units across 29 properties in Arizona, Texas and Nevada, with more than 1,000 additional units currently in development or under construction.
